Wall textSchiele’s aesthetic is marked by an intense and unsettling treatment of the human figure. His portraits and self-portraits go looking for the deeper emotion — anxiety, desire, solitude, vulnerability. Dark, vigorous contours define the forms, and matter more than any conventional modelling of volume.
He approached the body directly, and provocatively for his time, working through desire, intimacy and mortality.
This shoot proposes a free interpretation of Schiele’s signs: timeless, and charged with identity.
