OWN YOUR STORY – Model Neeraj Shares His Inspiring Journey of Overcoming Personal Hardships, Breaking Cultural Barriers, and Embracing Vulnerability “When we do something we love, in the end we feel alive because real happiness is behind the scenes making our dreams a reality.”
I’m Neeraj Saini, 20 years old from India. I started my career as a model when I was 17. Growing up I did not know what I wanted to do in life. As a child I never thought that I would come to this point and have the strength to become what I am today.
I write poetry but I have no idea how literature and grammar works. I write in Hindi but I’m school I used to fail in Hindi. I have this realisation that money isn’t the reason we wake up and work everyday but to do what we love which makes us alive. I then started to identify my love for photography which allows me to see the world differently.
I have shot for boutique brands in India and usually capture the world I see. Now that I look back I see a huge difference in me, in the way I see the world and myself.
In life we do a lot of things to survive but in the end drains ourselves. When we do something we love, in the end we feel alive because real happiness is behind the scenes making our dreams a reality.
Here I’ll add few lines of my poetry.
“Cigarette ke bache akhiri kash ki tarha, Jisse log pairo ke neeche bhujate hai. Roz milta hu aise logo se mai, Jo mujhe uss kash ki yaad dilate hai”
Rough translation: You smoke a cigarette and there’s a last puff left, you throw it and stamp on it – thinking of me as that last puff – I meet people every day who make me feel like that.
Every day people make you feel used and discarded – people are good to you when they are in your life, people don’t just leave, they discard you like a cigarette butt.
