Rolls-Royce Just Turned a Cullinan Into Contemporary Art

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and artist Cyril Kongo unveil a one-off Black Badge Cullinan blending contemporary street art with ultra-luxury craftsmanship.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is pushing deeper into the world of contemporary art with the unveiling of the Black Badge Cullinan by Cyril Kongo — a project that feels less like a luxury SUV and more like a rolling collector’s piece.

Created in collaboration with internationally recognised artist Cyril Kongo, the commission merges the rebellious edge of street art with the precision of Rolls-Royce craftsmanship, transforming the Black Badge Cullinan into what the brand describes as a “canvas” for artistic expression.

The collaboration goes beyond surface-level branding. Kongo was embedded directly within Rolls-Royce’s Bespoke team at Goodwood, working alongside artisans and engineers to hand-paint elements throughout the interior  from the fascia and picnic tables to the iconic Starlight Headliner.

That ceiling becomes the centrepiece. Across all five commissions, Kongo created immersive cosmic-inspired artworks filled with imagined planets, symbols and references to quantum physics, before individually mapping the placement of more than 1,300 illuminated stars by hand.

What makes the project resonate culturally is the contrast. Kongo’s visual language rooted in Parisian graffiti culture and contemporary street art collides with one of Britain’s most traditional luxury houses, creating something that feels far more aligned with today’s collector mindset.

Even the exterior pushes beyond standard Bespoke territory. A new gradient coachline fades between vivid colours across each side of the vehicle, while different coloured brake callipers sit behind every wheel subtle details that reinforce the sense of individuality running throughout the project.

More broadly, the collaboration reflects how luxury menswear and automotive culture continue to overlap. Cars are no longer just transport  they’re increasingly positioned alongside watches, furniture and art as part of a wider lifestyle ecosystem tied to taste, identity and collecting.

Only five examples of the Black Badge Cullinan by Cyril Kongo have been created, each allocated to private collectors worldwide.
