This week I ventured into the New York modelling scene again to bring you a face that is as fresh as they come…

Jubril Oyedeji has to be one of the best new faces of 2017 and with him signing with Soul Artist Management we can only see endless possibilities for this guy. You would think for someone who started modelling this year things would just be starting up, but not for Jubril. He has just landed two big campaigns, starring in the Uniqlo’s FW17 Campaign and the highly anticipated Google Pixel Buds campaign. This guy certainly has what it takes to become the next big top male model. That being there was no better time than now to introduce Jurbil to our Lewis readers so I sat down with him so he can tell us a little bit about himself.

Hi Jubril

Where are you from?

I’m Nigerian, born and raised, I moved to the United States with my mom and little brother in 2010 to live with my stepdad in New York.

How would you describe yourself?

I’m a calm and easy going person, I like to put a smile on people’s face, I’m adventurous and I prefer playing sports than watching them.

How and when did you get into modelling?

I was scouted late 2016 by a scout Shameer Khan while I was shopping in H&M with my friend. He gave me his card and asked me to call and email him. At first, I thought it was weird and I didn’t take it seriously, but my ex-co-worker told me he knew him and he’s legit so I finally gave him a call back in early 2017, and started seeing agencies all over New York. The time finally came when I got call back from Soul Artist Management. Best day.

What was your first modelling job?

My first job was an Editorial for Unbiased Magazine back in mid-April, 2017.

How did it feel when you landed the UNIQLO FW17 campaign?

It was the most amazing feeling in the world, I couldn’t believe it. I was on my way to a casting when my agent Christophe at Soul called me and I had to stop and sit on the street bench like maybe I was dreaming. It was definitely a dream come true because I never thought I’ll be working that big of a job that early in my career.

Do you have any brands you’d really like to work with?

I would love to work for Gucci, Balmain, Balenciaga, ZARA, TOPMAN and H&M, among others.

Is there a photographer you’d really like to shoot with?

Bruce Weber, Steven Klein and so many other great ones..

What’s the best lesson you’ve learned from being a model?

I’ve learned many things from being a model but one thing I keep telling my self is that “The World is Callous and Shallow, It’s my Job to Not Become That Way As Well”.

What’s something you couldn’t live without?

Sad to say but it’s my phone.

What’s favourite thing to do when you’re not working?

I’m either working at my other day job or doing some sort of activities or playing soccer. I only rest at night and that’s because I recently stopped working overnight. Lol Yeah, workaholic here.

Do you have any secret talents?

I can draw and I’m a computer engineer and I major it in college. I love to build, Fix and upgrade computers, last year I built 3 computers from scratch. I can also play the hand drum.

What’s your favourite song at the moment?

Love Yourz by J.cole and Never far away by “Lagbaja” pronounced(La-gba-jah) is a Nigerian AfroBeat musician. Those two will forever be my favourites.

Where would you like to be in 5 years?

In 5 years I want to be done with my education and have my degree in computer engineering and also be at a satisfying status with my modelling career.

Last question, where can people keep up with you and find your new work?

You can follow me on Instagram @jubi.jamba and my agencies @krushmgmt @soulartistmgmt your visit will be much appreciated. Thank you.
