BALMAIN SPRING SUMMER 18 REVIEW

Lewis Fashion Journalist Collen Demerez coverage of the Balmain Show...

Balmain has become known for its luxurious designs and they are proving more why they are the fashion house to beat. It was a dark spring for Balmain this season but they certainly made up for the lack of colour with the details. The collection was this mix of western US and a Parisian extravagance having fringed shirts and a U.S. flag jumpers. A lot of the garments were shown in monochrome colours and seemed to be a solute to Paris/France using a typically Parisian black and white aesthetic. Oliver ad this to say “I have to say I’m more proud than ever of my country for what they did [in the election]. Because I do believe they gave the hope for the new generation and the generation after me. France in the ’80s was shining around the world, pushing boundaries. . . and today I am really believing in the country and how it can shine around the world again.” The collection also showcased elongated knitwear and outwear, ultra skinny trousers and statement jackets and tailoring.
